Four new short documentary chronicle the effects climate change on local communities in Pakistan. Spanning from Chitral to Gwadar, the documentary films produced by young Pakistani filmmakers also highlight the way community activists are raising awareness for climate adaptation and mitigation efforts.
The documentary films were produced through the assistance of IMS and Mediastan with producton and coordination by IMS partner IRADA. The filmmakers included Farah Naz, Hira Munir, Ahmed Kazi and Moaz Ahmed.
Farah Naz explored the impact of global warming on the fisher folk of Gwadar who are gradually losing catch due to shifts in sea temperature.
Hira Munir spoke with the climate activists calling for afforestation in the riverine forest of Miani near Hyderabad, Sindh.
Ahmed Kazi’s film examined the perspectives of the resident of a small mountain town in Chitral, whose past is chequered with destruction by floods.
Moaz Ahmed looked at the vacuum left in a natural habitat when wildlife is evicted due to inadequate local resources and policies.
